We are looking at a Grand Design Solitude, 377 MBS. We want the freedom to dry camp, thus looking to have Generator installed. Its another $8500. I'm not a fan of that high of a price, since they are available outside of the dealer for 1/2-3/4 the cost....

Any other options? I was looking at Honda Generators, yet would need 2 Eu300i in parallel to run everything... but they are heavy and I'm not getting younger....

If we went with the installed, that position is right under the bed... is it going to be loud? I would think so?

Any thoughts for a newbies?

Kind Regards,
Brian

We dry camp every chance we can--and have an onboard generator, right under the bedroom. A lot depends on what you want to run and level of comfort needed. We do not camp without power hookup if it is going to be too hot to sleep w/o the gen. Yes, its noisy, but livable--just don't want to sleep right above it, nor want to sleep near a running internal combustion engine of any kind.
2 eu3000i in parallel, sitting on a stout carrier at the rear, might be an option.

$8.5 K sounds like a lot. Sizing is important. You’d be surprised how quiet a properly installed generator is.

You have to be very careful who you hire to do the work. Camping world quoted $5K to move a 3.6K Generator from one prepped trailer to another, a job that should take less than two hours. That’s more than what a new fresh install should cost.

Ours in mounted under the bedroom , I added an exhaust kit to move gasses above roof and now A/C is louder the Generator.
