Future 5th wheeler from Central Florida, bought the truck last month and buying the 5th wheel next summer. Going to try going full time, thinking about the Cougar 310RLS. Love to hear any ones opinions agree or disagree.

Since your planning on full time, 31 ft might get small real quick? All depends on your amount of stuff and if your planning on any pets, wife/other to be with you. We started full time travel with a 38.5 ft 5th wheel and then moved down to a 36 ft. The smaller size was hard at first to get used to, as we spread out to fill the 38.5 feet. At least you have the truck, so you can size the trailer to fit the trucks ability to carry whatever weight your set up for. Are you looking new or used trailer?

The website says it's 35'4" long, is it? We like the floorplan a lot except for the island and we can not find a 5th wheel that has what we want and does not have the island. So the 310RLS is the closest that we have found with a year to go. What we like is:

12 volt/propane 12 cf refrigerator
Seats that directly face the TV... I know
Only need room for two plus a 10 pound Bichon
King size bed
Washer dryer hookup
Love the big pantry
LED's on all fixtures
2.5 X 4 shower
Toilet outside of shower... lol
Residential size microwave
Good size tanks
The ability to boondock
Not too heavy 10K +/- dry

Pulling with a Ram 3500 CC SRW SB 4X4 HO Diesel that I plan on putting a slider in but maybe not according to the Cougar video where it turns at 90 degrees with a fixed hitch.

Since you have the truck--when you make a deal on a fiver, be sure to get in writing that you will be able to turn 90d without a slider, or just get the slider so its there if needed.
Cougars are very popular units, see them everywhere. Just take a good, long, look at the construction quality in several new ones to be sure they are put together right--lots of complaints currently on RV construction, and not only on any one brand/mfg.
Bichons are really great dogs, see them often with RVers.

Thanks for the welcome! This is our second Bichon and we love her like the last one, they are great dogs. My wife wont buy into purchasing the the FW until next summer, we are retiring in about 21 months, and she thinks we should wait but I need some time with the FW before we take off.

I will go with the slider, good advice. As for build quality I only wish that I knew more about how each is built.

Sine you have time to learn and see you might want to start looking at used ones to see how they held up after a couple of years use? This way you can see some other brands as well and start crossing off the list what doesn't seem to look very good after time. Who knows, you might find a used rig that is just too good to pass up on your hunt.

Look at the web and see if there is a Cougar owners group. You will learn a lot from it.
