View Full Version : Pin box
I'm new to the Forum I have my first fifth wheel although it's an old one that I'm restoring and my truck is a 2018 Dodge Ram 4 X 4 short bed it hooks up fine however is it possible for the pin box to be extended out just an an inch or so that's about all I need for it to clear the cab sufficiently it's probably a stupid question but you don't know till you ask.
Thank you, Randy
Here is one idea. I actually installed one of these on a friends 5th wheel that wanted more cab clearance.

Walts idea is the easiest way to gain inches for clearance, every so often I see one of these on Craig's List. Not much to actually wear out so buying used should not be an issue, might save some money?
My friend picked one up on Craig's List for $100 like Stripit suggested. After installing it we had it welded on.

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you're on the right track.
Bet your truck is powerful too, just be mindful that any modifications to your trailers pinbox / framehead could put undo stress / leverage on components the mfr. didn't anticipate. Be easy.
Enjoy.
