When we bought this 08 36TK3 the people we bought it from said the wood was not real wood. Is this true? I know they make them strong to take the pounding of the roads but fake wood??? I think ours is Maple or looks like Maple.

It is real wood. Take my word for it 'cause when you open the slide and something gets caught between the slide trim and the wall, it splinters--real wood.
The finish options in '08 were oak (lighter) and maple(darker). Most models were maple.
Interior decor was either Charcoal, Golden Brown, Majestic Blue or Tuscan Sand.
I actually have the '08 brochure if you would like me to copy it for you.

We have the maple and Tuscan Sands. I posted that because my wife believed the lady we bought this from, I didn't lol. I looked thru all the material that we got with the camper and found a O8 brochure but thanks for the offer Joe!

I am disappointed that our crown moulding is plastic covered particle board. Reason I know this is because a pc fell off from over the pocket door that had two nails in it at one end. I knew it looked different from the rest of the wood package, NOT HAPPY!!!

One way the older units kept the crown moldings from falling down/off is to not have them...

A few extra nails would have helped mine!

Well maybe not true Ron. My MH neighbor during our winter had an 8 ft long crown molding fall off. 2" pin nail like a cactus and were straight so they hit nothing but dead space. I wanted to fix it for him but he said they will fix it back home.

They just don't build them like they used to--sometimes, thankfully; sometimes new isn't better.
Luckily, I don't have enough $$ to consider upgrading to a newer year, just enough to keep the '05 going.
Crown-moldings in a fifth wheel/MH--my first thought is, what are they hiding?
For several years I have seen older fivers/MHs/TTs and wondered just why are they still using them? Now, I know--to good to give up, or too expensive to gamble.
Just hope mine holds together for one more trip to AK this year...

So true!!!

I will see if I can get the same profile in Cherry and have it finished at Price and Visser in Bellingham WA this Summer. I may place a backer wedge behind the crown for something more solid to attach to.

I wanted to do as you said but he said no. I have always thought why not shoot a taper wood in to the corner on homes so it would be very simple to nail the molding. The tapered wood could be undersized so the molding wouldn't follow any issues in the sheet rock. I was alone on this thinking but it would happen for my personal work if I wanted crown molding.

I did it years ago on some larger Crown Moulding and it worked great. The framing was metal studs.
