Thinking about buying a fifth wheel. Looking at 2500 diesel trucks and I know that a 8' long bed is probably the best but all I am seeing are standard bed 6'6" for sale. Are long bed trucks hard to find

Make sure you look at the tow ratings to have enough legal tow capabilities. A dually is a must for a DRV product.

I had a 2006 2500HD Chevy and I just got a 2015 3500HD Long Bed because I didn't want to get another slide hitch. I would recommend a long bed it rides and tows better

If you are worried about driving/turning--it will soon become second nature. If it won't fit in the garage, tho,...
While considering a long bed, might as well think about a 3500 instead--some day, you may want a bigger fiver. The ride is not much different than a 2500.

A long bed is the only way to go, Trailer Life mag publishes a great tow guide that can help you make sure the truck you choose will do the job, no skimping on this decision.
