If your getting 13 mpg toweing I would not mess with it. I have a 2003 and get 10 mpg and have plunty of power out pulling many MH and semis going up grades.

I have an '02 GMC with an Edge unit and get around 13 when towing. I get better than 19 when solo, and am very much sold on the Edge!

As you can see by my signature, I have the 05 GMC with the D/A and I get 12 to 14 mpg towing and 20+ empty. Prior to the 05 I had an 03 Silverado with the same D/A Combo giving me the same mpg. With the 03 and the 05 D/As I have all the power I need for pulling the hills and with the Tow/Haul Mode all the braking I need for coming down the other side. We are Full Timers and put on 15,000 to 20,000 miles per year. About 1/3 of that is towing the 5er. I personally feel that it is a huge waste of money adding a chip, reprograming or the Banks system to any Chevy or GMC with the D/A Combo. There's an old saying..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

If it ain't broke, don't fix it? Sometimes things are not broke but are just under-engineered and could work a lot better. I added the Edge Juice Module to our 2003 GMC D/A and have been very pleased with the results. I can pull in overdrive on those short hills that used to call for a shift down to maintain my speed. No, I'm not one to drive over the speed limit and generally don't travel above 60. It works for us and I would do it again.

I too tow a 36TK3 with a 2003 Duramax 3500 but get around 9-10 towing between 55 and 60 mph. Even my last fiver which was a few thousand lbs lighter I still got around 10 mpg towing.

Stacy W, As you I also pull in OD and my Duramax drags my 32' Montana over short hills without down shifting. It also drags my rig over the mountains of Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina without any problems. In my opinion the only good "CHIP" is a Potato chip well maybe a Corn chip.

loryray, Save your money. The Banks Chip will not improve on what General Motors has already built into the Duramax. AND if your Duramax/Allison is still under warranty adding the Chip will VOID that warranty.

Glenn, it is a matter of numbers. My 2003 comes stock with a horsepower rating of 300 and torque of 520. My Juice module set at the lowest rating (which is what I use when in Tow/Haul) increases horsepower by 40 and torque by 100. Now, I have ratings of 340 and 620. You 2005 ratings are 360 and 650. It is all in the numbers. The Juice module raises my numbers to almost yours.

Thanks to all for the input. Have decided not to go the Banks way. After the feed back here and talking with others I don't think it would be adventagous to install a Banks system. Thanks again to all.
