Can I please get some input on where to stay (or more importantly NOT to stay) in the greater Detroit area. I want to visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village and stay as close as I can but still be in a decent area. I'm sure there are areas to stay away from or not travel through. Any help will be greatly appreciated.:D

BUMP! Apparently no one visits Detroit with no reply's from 99 views. Sound like I should avoid the area.

Bear,
Sorry you got no help, but perhaps no news is the best answer 'cause I haven't heard much good out of that area in some time.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's looking like a good place to avoid.

Seeing the Henry Ford is a great experience, it is just not easy to do when you have an rv along. The closest place to park that was 'safe' or at least a certified rv park was about 30 miles away. If driving a distance isn't an issue, Algonac State Park is very nice and runs along the St. Clair River where you can watch the freighters glide up and down 24 hours a day. There are other rv parks, all within the 1 hour's drive to Henry Ford so a search on RV Parks Reviews should help.http://www.rvparkreviews.com/

Thanks for the reply. That was my plan to say some distance away and day trip it. Also, that web site is great! I looked up several CG's I have stayed at and the reviews were spot on, thanks again.

HI! We were just there about 2 weeks ago. We stayed at the Detroit Greenfield RV Park in Ypsilanti.

Nice area, nice lake to walk around. I think it was about 30 minutes from the Ford Museum. They sell discount tickets for the museum, etc. right at the campground office!
