There are two door locks that work with a key on our ES 38TKSB3 front door.

Can someone explain why there is a second one.

I believe that the "non-deadbolt" lock is for dealers to use.
If you leave your rig for repair, or if it's on a lot being sold, that "second lock" will allow the dealer to unlock and lock the rig.
But if you lock with the deadbolt, the dealer "key" is of no use.

Are you sure?

They both work with the same key.

The top one is to lock only the door handle. If you lock it, you won't be able to pull the handle. The bottom one is for the deadbolt. If you lock it but not the handle, the handle will operate, but the door won't open because of the deadbolt.

The key you have will operate both locks. The key dealers have will operate the top lock only, not the bottom. Yes, I'm sure.

I think it's a pretty standard lock. We had the same locks in our first 5er, an Open Road.

DH would leave for work and sometimes lock both door locks. Little did I know that when I stepped out to do the laundry without a key, I was locked out. So I had to wait until he came home for lunch for my GD and I to get back inside.
