If this was my car I would know what to do, but since I have only had my first RV for less than a year, I thought I would ask... I noticed corrosion on my battery connector cables and battery pan. Can I just disconnect my battery and clean the connectors and pan without affecting anything in the camper? I want to avoid replacing the battery and pan. I am hooked up to electrical, nothing is running on the battery as far as I know. :?

Yes it's not a big deal. Shut down what 12 volt systems you have (furnace, lights) you can. Your fridge will, assuming it is a regular RV style, will function on 110 volts while you have the battery disconnected. You may have a battery disconnect switch in the unit as well. Use that switch then clean the terminals like you would on a car. Just disconnect the ground first then reconnect it last. Make sure you then reconnect the batery to the system by the disconnect switch when you are done or the RV will be isolated from the battery.

I recently took the batteries out, removed the slide/tray and cleaned all the acid corrosion off with baking soda solution. Rinsed and dried good, then primed and repainted the tray.
Just be sure you mark all the cables so you are sure where to reconnect them.
