Thank you all for your input. It is a 2011 HD diesel and the pin weight is 2500 lbs. So if you are right I'll b 500 lbs over weight. Does that include the weight of the hitch also? According to the truck manuel I am only 500lbs hauling different than a 3500 Chevy diesel truck. Will that make a big difference in my towing?
Thanks agin for all your help.

"hauling different" are you referring to tow capacity or vehicle weight capacity?
You can tow a lot more than you can set on the rear axle--the only way to know where you stand on rear axle weight is to weigh the truck set up for towing and find out what is already on the rear axle--then add the 2500+ lbs for the pin weight. I believe you will be over by quite a lot, and even more when you weigh the trailer and find out the pin weight as it sits ready to camp.

You are correct--not much difference between 2500HD and 3500 HD SRWs towing capacity. But the 3500 should have about 1000 lbs more axle capacity than the 2500.

The 3500 series can definitely be pushed to the limits with tow capacity. You're right about it's heft against the 2500 series (even though the 2500 is still a pretty darn good truck regardless).

I believe the weight limit on the rear axle is exactly the load capacity of the rear tires on the SRW GMs.
Find you some better tires for more of a safety margin...
