I'm currently stopped but in tow to Texas from Virginia. When I disconnected shore power yesterday, fridge transferred over to propane. No problem. Stopped for night in SC at park with shore power and fridge is off, no lights, no fans, like no power is going to unit. Had been off for a while too. Checked all the fusses at circuit panel. Pulled cover outside and checked plug in. Found nothing obvious. It's the Dometic unit that came from factory in our rv. No ammonia smell though. I won't be on forum before tonight at least. Anyone got any suggestions on what to look for short of new one?

Glen,

Are your batteries good? I don't think fridge will run on propane if batteries are not good.

The frig will not run with 12v power for the circuit board. You should be able to get 12v power if you plug the rig to your truck. Then the rig will run off the truck batteries. Remember to unplug so you don't drain the truck batteries.

Check your small circuit breaker in the battery compartment. It is located on the right side wall in line with wire coming from battery. Sounds like you hve lost your 12 volt supply.

I do have 12v some places at least. All the lights worked off of battery and vents also. Battery shows full charge. I don't remember seeing a circuit board in battery compartment. It's late now and I'm very tired, drove all day and part of night. Mosquitoes are bad here also. In Louisiana. Will check for that in morning before pulling out. I probably ran out of propane also. Had not been cooking lately and tanks seem mt. Been thinking of changing it out to a residential unit when it went south but not if it's something simple. Thanks everyone. God bless all of you.

So simple, but just to make sure - I assume you checked the inline fuse also?? That is the one that blew most often on our MS Dometic, until I replaced the 1 amp fuse with a 3 amp fuse - no more problems, at least with the fuse..

Also, is the fridge plugged in to the 110 outlet at the bottom back of the fridge??

opps! Thought those in line fuses were just for the fans. Soon as quits raining I'll check.

If I remember, there are also one or two fuses inside the control panel on the back of the fridg. as well as the inline fuses.

All fuses are good. Test light went south on me. I'll have to pickup new one today. Will check further later.

Glen,

Does fridge work when plugged in to 50 amp service?
It might be that you are out of propane.....
Don't think it would have anything to do w/fridge, but there are two
(I think 30amp fuses) on the converter.

Fridge doesn't work period, shore power or propane. Just got settled in tonight in Houston. Going for job paper work and weld test tomorrow. Will pickup test light after all this. Last time I towed back in March this year, my fridge thawed out while in tow but was working when I came inside. Lost food. Scratched head and hadn't thought any more about it until now. I must have a loose connection somewhere. May have to run new wire. New conventional fridge sounding better all the time. lol.

Losing the fridge on both power and gas sounds like cooling plant problem. Does the internal light come on at all when you open the door under either shore or battery power?

I hope it's a simple fix.

Nope. No lights, no nothing. I do have 110 at plug though. Hadn't found 12 volts anywhere on fridge. Anyone know where it pickups it's 12v at? All fuses at breaker box are good. I bypassed the fuses with 2 small screw drivers in back of fridge and nothing. Wife picked up a small fridge yesterday. It is small. I might get a service man to come here. There right down the road. Starting this new job I just don't have any time. Thanks everyone. God bless.

What happens if the batteries are dead? Just a thought.

I checked for power at all 12v wires, nothing. I'm loosing battery voltage somewhere. Battery is fully charged. Everything will work except the fridge that runs on 12v with shore power off.

Glen,

Did you check the convertor fuses? Maybe something loose in the fuse panel???

Just got it fixed. Found a fuse able link in a wire. It was bad. Bought a pair for the Atwood hot water heaters and spliced it in. Running fine now. Even have a spare now. DRV tucked it behind that chimney looking thing, crimped a piece of metal over it and screwed it to the sheet metal. Thanks again everyone and God bless.

Glad you found the problem.........
