we were preparing to evacuate from Virginia Beach ahead of the traffic jams if Earl really slams here.
the bedroom slide...well the bed platform shides in, but it has detached from the part that has the windows and the cupboards over the bed.
right now clothes from under the bed are piled in the living area....the bedding and memory foam topperand the king sized mattress are in here too.
howard is under the metal frame to detached it and see where the problem is.
any help out there from you "gurus" would be appreciated. You all are always there when we are stumped.
Thanks, Cyndy

Sounds like the frame of the slide out is broken. I hope you can get it taken care of easily.

Please let us know what you find, so that if it happens to us, at least we will be ahead of the game. By knowing what to look for.
Thanks.......Ron

after removing everything from uner the bed, the king size mattress and the metal frame we found all kinds fo screwws loose under there so we tightened them down and added some and now it woriks fine. before this the slide made a clunking sound...now it's smooth as can be.
others told me theirs clunked too, so I thought it was normal. and it had made that clunk since the day we picked it up in June 2007....now i know it was not normal at all. DRV now knows of this problem and they have replaced other forum users slides with bolts....not lag scress which Roadworthy (sp?) had used...DRV took it step further with the bolts. I will have to look and find out what size bolts.
The bad news is that we will have to do this again and replace our fix with stronger bolts.
The whole job took us 11 hours..probably because I was not strong enough to wrestle much with the heavy stuff......but I did it anyway. if two guys did the heavy lifting it would help. and only one person can fit inside the frame. the metal frame was the worse part....lining everthing up just perfectly was awfull hard. everyone check your slides! Sounds like more shortcuts taken by the factory during construction. Glad you were able to get it fixed. If possible, did you take any pix of the area in question and your solution?

next time we get under there i will take pics. there are brackets on the insde of the frame...where the supports for the mattress fastens to the wooden parts. then there is an aluminum pice that runs the width..it is easier to you will see the screws running all the way across.
i will see if i can get someone else to post pictures. and maybe a better description

Our bedroom slide front corner wasn't coming in all the way.
We had an RV technician come to check it out. What they found was 9 of the 10 screws on the side rails had fallen out. We drilled out the holes, put bolts with nuts thru the frame. Added more screws thru the rails and the Z bracket in the base. Now we are good.
A bolt and a nut will hold alot better than screws.

I have pics but can't seem to attach them.

So does anyone know if DRV now uses bolts in new construction?

Went to the Tampa show yesterday.
Checked out under the bed.
They do use heavier fasteners on the bed slide
and more of them.
The pantry has 3 inch deeper shelves in it now.
The trim around the slides are wood not plastic,
plus a few other changes here and there.
