We must defrost frig weekly, seems to be working OK but just continues to ice/frost up. Any ideas?? I have the climite control switch so that the red is showing on the switch is this the "ON" setting?? We are now in Texas and the humidity is high.

Did you check to see if the door is sealed good?
Just and idea....
You shouldn't have to defrost that soon...

If you are making ice and you frequently open the freezer door and there is lots of humidity...you will have to defrost regularly. Weekly seems excessive, so make sure you check the door seals....insert a dollar bill and try to pull it out, if it takes a good tug, the seal is ok, and try it in different areas around the door.

My problem was that the inside light was on all the time and that was what was making excessive ice build up. I glued a little extension on the switch so that the light would shut off sooner and now we defrost about once a month, maybe longer. Before we were defrosting fridge about every 10-14 days.

Unless the switch on the light is bad it should go off unless you have the low ambient temperature switch on. It's located on the top inside edge of the fridge. That switch is supposed to keep the fridge light lit up when the door is closed.

Moter31 - I turned on the low ambient switch and my inside light would not go off with the door switch. So red means "on". I also did the dollar bill on the seals they seem to be weak, so what next - have seals changed?? For now I have the climate control thing for high humidity turned on will see if that helps should know in a week.

The high humidity switch won't keep the interior from frosting up, it just keeps frost from building up inside the door seal area. If there is an air leak the frost would travel towards it eventually building up ice in the doorway itself making the leak worse. The switch causes a small heat strip inside the doorway to melt any frost that might be building up there.

I think your best bet is to get another door seal and install it. I Don't recall off hand what the warranty period is for the fridge or if the seal is even covered under it. If you have the booklet for it you can check or go online with Dometic and check there.

FWIW on our fridge we have to defrost about every 3 weeks to a month in high humidity areas like the coast and about 2 months in the desert like Arizona. We do let it build up a bit before we defrost. At least it is a quick process.

Is their any adjustment to the door to make the seal tighter?? Can I replace the seals myself and is this an easy project?? Any tricks for replacement will be appreciated.

our 06 had same problem. Dealer got us another door...still no good.

Never did get the thing to work correctly, so traded for an 09 (kinda expensive was to remedy). It works just fine tho.

My door seal also seemed a little weak and someone told me to try a little vaseline on the seal and that did the trick. My fridge stays at the correct temp and defrost maybe monthy or longer. It took about a year to slove my fridge problems but all is OK now.
