Not wishing to hijack the other thread on this forum discussing tires I thought I would pose my question in a separate thread regarding:

Bridgestone R184 - 215/75R-17.5 "H" 16 ply rated tires

They are constructed in the U.S.A. the same as the Goodyear with a straight rib pattern, 5 steel tread belts and one steel sidewall belt and are load rated to 4,805lbs single at 125psi.

I threw a tread off one of my Goodyears a couple of years back and after mounting the spare in it's place purchased the above tire as a spare and have had it hanging under the trailer ever since. My Goodyears are all build code for 05 and I will be contemplating replacing them all within a year and wondered if anyone has been running these Bridgestones or knows anything about them at all.

Bruce, I'm also curious for the answer to you question. That being said, when I'm ready to change tires I will go to the 235 size tire from what ever mfg. That gives you enough extra capacity to run at 110 psi or so.

OK, Dave, I read you. that would open up the field some. There just aren't that many choices out there for the 17.5's. Although Goodyear has been very good about standing behind their product when it falils and causes damage.

GY does make the 235 even though it does not always show up in the brochures. The other mfg is Michelin and from my experience they also make a quality product that they stand behind. (hopefully not to far behind). I for one really like having extra capacity for my tires, but I suspect that even that does not eliminate the possibility that we will have a tire failure/tread separation.
