Modifying the position of the Sewage Dump Outlet

While on a recent trip I saw an '09 Mobile Suites and noticed the sewage dump outlet is now well away from the tire and outside the kitchen slideout. Apparently a specification change from RVIA was required to get this done but it is a good modification. Congratulations Doubletree.

I have assemled the pieces I need to modify the sewage dump outlet on my '07 MS. Or at least I thought I had. What appeared to me to be a coupling is not that at all. Closer inspection shows that the piece is actually a Y coupler allowing a 1-1/2" ABS pipe (gray water) to feed into the main 3" dump tube. I am a bit leary of cutting those pipes because I am not sure if these rigid pieces will line up properly if shortened. Has anybody done this already? I can install my new gate valve leaving this Y coupling intact but the outlet would still be under the slideout. Not a big deal but if I can be assurred I won't get into trouble trying to shorten it further I will do that. My main goal is to get a gate valve installed near the cap.

I did not relocate my Dump Connection, but I did install a "Safety Gate Valve" next to the coupling. I had a defective Gate valve on my Black tank so I installed a new valve just to give me some added protection incase the valve goes bad again. At least with the new one, I can be sure that I can hook up the hose and then open the new manual valve.

Cut away! No problems cutting the two pipes and adding a sized coupling to each Just cut out what you need to shorten it by and re-connect. You have to glue them both up at the same time, goob on the glue and work fast fitting together. Remember the 2 different sized couplings are exactly that, different size in length as well! Don't ask how I figured that one out.....hum...ha Measure twice someone once said???haar

I installed the gate valve right before the cap and a fitting added to the valve that the caps connects too, like original.

billr, thanks for assuring me I will not get into trouble after I cut the pipes. Now off to get a new wye fitting, 45 deg coupler and then I can start sawing. My gate valve will be close coupled to the cap too.

I went camping over the fourth of July and when grey water tank was full, I started to dump and water ran on the ground instead of the drain line. Found the 1-1/2" pipe broke right on outlet side of the remote dump valve. One of the 45 degree fittings had broken. With the long drain pipe extending way back toward the tire, it is causing lots of movement of the piping causing it to break. I bought a rubber pipe with radiator clamps on each end. This worked and will allow some movement. I plan on shortening my piping also and apply additional bracing for the piping. It was just a poor design especially for Arkansas highways.
