We are thinking about purchasing the 5.7 Shurflo water pump from Camping World. We have some reviews that have pros & cons.
We are currently using the Whisper King Shurflo pump 2.8 gpm and it's pulsating and not enough water. Noticed the 5.7 is an option now for the '08 Mobile Suites.

Thanks for any advice.

Check this site for a discussion on an alternative pump to the Shurflo

http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/Pumps.htm

I ordered the variable speed 5.7 GPM Shurflo in my '07 RS3 and it is satisfactory. I did have a period where it would stop running and required a cycle of the power switch to get it to restart. At that time it did not run up to speed and would growl away at very low RPM when the faucets were closed. Before I could analyze the problem the condition disappeared. I believe it may have been due to foreign matter affecting the operation of the pump. If so, it cleared out on its own and has run normally since then. I can't fault the pump for that and it works well for us.

I installed a 5.7 on my Select and it is very Quiet and puts out good pressure. I even use the pump in some full hook-up sites because I get better pressure from the pump than the fresh water. Be sure to install the extra hose on the output. This helps to reduce the noise. One of the great things about the Doubletree products is the water manifold. It helps to reduce the vibration that other Manufacturers trailers have.

We really like ours and I know you will to.

I installed a 2 peice of hose and coiled it before hooking onto the output hose of the select. It helps reduce the vibration of the hard plastic water lines we have in the RV's. There is a kit that Shurflo sells, but it is just a 2 foot section of hose. I would assume that if anyone ordered the 5.7, that DT would have installed the hose as well.

I have the variable spped pump in my new MS RE3. The first time we had to use it it failed. Symptoms just like everyone is describing. It would pump, then stop on valve shut off and require a cycle of the power switch to start again, The next morning it wouldn't work at all. Really bad news for the first full day of 4 days of dry camping.

Anyway, the motor was pretty warm that morning. Got the unit to the dealer about 10 days later. (After the dry spell, used full hook-up sites) Guess what? Pump worked fine!!!

Kinda insisted on more thorough testing and the tech did manage to get it to heat up and quit pumping. Bottom line - bad pump and DT replaced under warrenty.

JBoldennew Didn't mean anything negative, I was really impressed. Mine is 11 months old and things went wrong from the first week. (toilet, A/C, water pump etc) Everytime I called DT it was "not our problem, contact Dometic, Sur-Flo etc" Glad you had better service. The manufactures (dometic et al) were OK but you always end up paying for labor or service etc. I'm happy that you got fixed up by DT...just envious.

Man I'm sorry if my post made you think I was put out .... Not at all ... My reply was tongue in cheek ....

I know some get great service and some not so great. My reply was meant to say thwere wasn't much choice in DT (actually the dealer) fixing the pump 'cause it was so very "young" and the pump died on first full use.

Happy travels!

Our only problem with the pump was due to our own stupidity - we let it freeze. Other then that this pump far exceeds expectations and easily out performs other pumps. As a matter of fact we contacted flo-jet to test their variable speed pump but once they found out we wanted to compare it against the shur-flo they backed out.
Got a problem...Contact them and they will take care of you.
