Trailer wiring

I was tracing down an intermittent trailer light failure yesterday (turned out to be in my big truck Hoppy plug)....but saw this evidence of fine workmanship of wires leaving the hitch and going underneath the skin. Yep, it was "hot" and grounded to the frame.



Guess the good news was that after 6 years, it was not causing a problem.....that I was aware of.
