grey water pull thingy

every time we want to empty the grey water we have to put some muscle into it. we have silicone sprayed the rod....it doesn' seem to help. it is so hard that I cannot do it and have to have howard do it. where we are now we have to drain every day and it's a pain.

It sounds like there is a kink in the line there somewhere. You'll need to trace the pull cable and see where it is binding up. If the rod got bent at all, you'll need to replace the cable assembly. It doesn't straighten out well at all. Be careful on using it as that one is harder to replace the valve on than the black tank. I had to replace the black tank valve and didn't bother with the cable style, I just use a regular valve and reach into the basement area to pull it. MUCH easier than the cable style DRV likes so much.

The gray water gate valve is a cable system...the cable makes a long loop and is somewhat restricted by the odd little plastic box that covers some of the sewer pipes under the rig. Not a good design, but that's what the factory has given us...I suspect that no amount of WD40 or grease will improve the functionality. Getting the plastic box off to gain access to the gate valve is a major PITA, as they have used industrial strength caulking.

Regards

When I am set up for a long period of time (more than a week) I open the grey water tank and leave it open. When I dump the black tank I turn on The internal spray(cleaner) for about ten minutes each time and open the black tank again to flush it. I do this twice each time I dump. I do this instead of having to us the grey tank flush to clean the lines. I haven't had any problems with this system in the last four years. I say this because my grey tank is hard to pull open also but I don't have to do it too often. This system has worked for me and now i Openit up for debate. Am I wrong doing it this way??

Thats pretty much what we have always done with good results. Except I do close the Grey valve the night before and use it to flush things out before we hit the road. Ours is a bit stiff, but still works ok. Has been that way for 3 yrs. If I have more trouble with it, I'll do a re-design on it. But not unless I have too! :x

On our previous SunnyBrook trailer I installed electric valves for both gray tanks and the black tank with switches both inside and outside. It was really nice to be able to drain without going outside. Like Okie, I would close the gray the night before I wanted to drain the black in order to flush the hose. First signs of trouble with the MS valves and I will do the same modification.
