Lights, and refrigerator not working.

Need help asap,

I have a 2007 Keystone Everest parked in my back yard. We had the local power company out by our house today doing work on the powerlines. They shut the power off in our neighborhood for 30 mins, but when they turned the power back on certain lights in the camper, the refrigerator, and the the panel where you control the slideouts dont work anymore. Ive checked the fuses, the circuit breakers in the camper, the circuit breakers outside the camper where it is pluged into the power pole in our back yard, I reset the GFCI plug in our bathroom (only one found), and still no luck. Any help appreciated.

Do you have ANY 12 volt items operating? ANYTHING off 12-volt?

Im not sure what runs off of 12 volt and what doesnt. It seems that all the lights that I think runs off of 12 volts, arent working. The only thing I can tell you is, the refrigerator, the lights I mentioned eariler, the control panel wont light up, and just realized the thermostat for the air conditioners wont work. (so no air conditioners). I am lost on this one.

Sounds like you have a relay in the 12-volt system--many trailers do. Look in/at the battery compartment--hot lead should go to a small box with 2 connectors on it. If you find it, there should be a SMALL black button on one of the sides (very hard to see/find) and just pust to reset it. This is a common occurrence with this small device--and it will cut off the 12 volt side of your system. Button is about 1/16" x 1/8" and very hard to see.

If this isn't it, there is something that the electrical company did that caused a breaker somewhere in your trailer to trip.

Does the converter work--do you hear it humming when plugged in to shore power?

Not sure where the converater is located. I will try to find the reset button you were talking about. Do you have any idea were the converater is located?

Not in your trailer, mine is behind the rear basement wall--just have to slide the wall door over to get to. If you are plugged in, and the batteries are being charged, you will hear/feel a hum from it. But, if the 12-volt system is cut off, the converter won't be charging the batteries and no noise from it.
I still think you have the relay tripped--you should try to locate it coming off the batteries. That same line the relay is in will go to the converter.

Well, I have a dual battery setup, and the wires run to two solenoids in the battery compartment. Theres one wire coming off the solenoids. Which I am assumeing is the hot lead. I traced it into the landing gear compartment and then it disseaperend upward underneath the master bedroom. I didnt see a relay but, I will keep searching. If I can find that converter it will make tracing eaiser.

Solenoid, relay--we may be talking about the same thing. Check post #6 in the below link for a picture of what it should look like--and also the reset button. This is a really good picture--most of the relays you see will be smaller and much harder to see the button.

You may have to register to see the picture, don't know.

Well, I pulled the back wall off in the basement like you did and found the converter. Theirs no humming or anything coming out of it. The little fan on the back of it, inst turning. I traced the wires coming off the converter to the circuit breaker. Flipped the circuit breaker a few times still got nothing. Im out of ideas. I think I am at the conclusion that the converter is shot. I tried to look at the picture, it wouldnt let me. I registered but, I have to wait for an admin. to review my account before they let me use the fourm.

Do you have a voltmeter? You could check for voltage out of the converter.

The MyRVTalk forum has lots of different brand owners participating and one of them should have your answer.

One way or the other, I believe it is gonna trace back to shutting off the electricity and then back on by the power company. If you have to replace the converter, think about a Progressive Dynamics 9200 series--pretty much the best around with a Charge Wizard built in to keep batteries from boiling out.

Theirs a little black box on the circuit breaker panel, that the converter plugs into. Its about as big as thumb nail. The converter plugs into one side and three wires come out the other. Is this what your referring to as the relay. I wish I could see that picture on the other fourm.

No, not what I am used to seeing. But technology may have changed them to a different style. Some are auto-reset, some not. If it is auto-reset and doesn't, then it is bad. But not sure what you are looking at--small as a thumbnail doesn't ring a bell to me.
Get a voltmeter to check 110 in to converter--that tells you it is getting power. Then if nothing out, converter is bad.

Well, I guess that was the relay you were talking about. I pushed the reset button on the bottom...waited 30 seconds nothing happened. Tried it a few times, still nothing. Converter refuses to run. I am going to replace the converter and see what happens.

Just a thought. Before you assume the converter is shot, it may have a blown fuse.
We had problems in a previous Suite, all of a sudden no 12volt. I don't recall what the circumstances were, but after fuse was replaced, everything worked again. I believe it was a 20 amp fuse.

I didnt have a voltmeter with me. So, I ran it up to a local RV shop. The tech there, said it wasnt working. I did end up getting the 9200 series with the charge wizard. I like how you can manually change the charging status. Anyways I hooked it up and everything works again.

My best guess is that the converter was on its last leg and when the power shut off it fried it somehow.

Thanks Wingnut for the help. I owe you one.

Glad that you were able to get it working correctly.

Don't forget the Everest owners forum I mentioned earlier, and the other forum-- MyRVTalk.com that has a lot of info from various brand owners.
