In the past, I've used two steel cables clad in plastic with loops on each end. On those occasions, I secured mine in the front of the pickup by running those cables, one on each side, through the handles and then both loops over to the tie-down fasteners in the bed of the truck. Then, I hooked a heavy lock through the two loops and through the truck's tie-down fasteners.

Something similar might be done when securing it in the rear of the truck's bed, although it would not be likely to be able to run a cable to both sides. So, I would imagine some fashion of using a cable to secure to the tie-down on one side.

An advantage of using the cables is that one might still be able to move the generator around when wanting to service it, by placing it on the tailgate.
