Recommended RV Parks in the RGV?

We are currently in the Houston area visiting family. Headed for the RGV in about a week and would like recommendations on RV parks. If you’re down there now or are planning to be there soon, what RV park did you select to winter at and is that your favorite park?

Do you stay in one park all winter or move around to a few others? If you move around, what other parks do you go to?

Has anyone started to organize a “get together luncheon” yet or is that too early to worry about?

Thanks in advance for all your recommendations.

There have been at least a couple threads about the very same subject. If you do a search you might find some reviews of parks in the area. There is usually a lunch or two style gathering during the winter there as well. Informal rather than anything like a mini rally. I don't winter there so can't help, sorry.

We wintered two winters in the RGV, first winter was in Mission Texas, at Bentzen Palm Grove. Plenty of activities if thats what you like. The next winter we were at the Green Gate just down the road from Bentzen Palm Grove, the Green Gate was awesome, but its a 55 + RV park at the time it was very nice and well kept and it was a gated RV Park. There are over 500 RV parks in the RGV, shouldn't be a issue finding a RV park you like. I would recommend either of the RV parks... Happy Trails....

RGV Camping

Look up Victoria Palms Resort on the net. It's the best kept campground in the valley; but pricey. All sites are paved as well as the road. Phone, Net and Sat TV are included in the price. There is also a resturant and large swimming pool on the grounds.

We have spent nearly every winter there since 2001.

Location; Donna, Texas.

Both Betsen Palm Grove and Victoria Palms are nice CG's. Tamara is another but upscale park. In between is Hidden Valley in Mission. There are some nice ones here but with over 1200 available it's hard to suggest one without knowing what you are interested in.

Not Rv'ing now, but we wintered 5 years in the RGV. Our first winter, we stayed at the Llano Grande Rv Resort, that has a Mercedes address, but it seems more like in the Weslaco area. It is a great park. We always said that if we could find one we liked better, we would go there the next year. Well, guess what................we spent every winter at Llano Grande. We just could not find one we liked as well, much less better. And that includes Victoria Palms, which is a generally older park.

One point, the north section of Llano is where we stayed, as it is a newer area. Now, we have not been there in a couple of years, and yes it is gated. Go to their website, if you are interested. Certainly not cheap!
