Leveling out my 5 er behind my truck

I have a 2011 dodge ram 2500 4x4 with level kit installed. I pull a 2011 Voltage 3200 using the Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel hitch setup. My trailer rides a little high in the front and other than letting the air bags sag a little, I can't figure how to get the fifth to ride level. The Andersen hitch can lower the ball by 2 inches which I have done but this doesn't leave much clearance between the bed rail and 5er. When turning sharp the bottom of my kingpin will hit my bed rail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You will need to raise the trailer. Many have done it to correct the same problem. If you do some reasearch on the rv web sites you will find out how it was done. A spring/suspension shop should be able to do it for you. Good luck!

Check your spring mounts for adjustment holes--if there are any, put the spring mounting bolts in the lower holes. Second choice: place the axles UDNER the springs instead of above them ("flipping the axles"). Third choice: take to a spring/axle shop and have them recommend how to raise the trailer correctly. A 2" lift on the trailer should do the trick. At any rate, you should take the trailer to a competent shop that specializes in suspension (spring/axle) problems.

If you ever wanted to upgrade tires and wheels you could always go to 17.5" with a bigger diameter tire. Costs more but you can get commercial grade trailer tires (like load range J) that will really do the job.
Just a thought.

Enjoy the road,

Several have done the 16" to 17.5" tire/wheels changeout, myself included. Unfortunately, won't help with trailer height--17.5" tires are actually smaller in diameter than the 16" by about 1/4" to 1/2" . Sounds weird, but that is how it is. You get a better/higher capacity tire in the same space or less than the 16" occupied.

Axles flip

I have done the springs over axles on two 5th wheels in the last 14 years with the help of a shop worker who had done it several times , I would not have done it by my self. Both work very well I am still the pulling the second one for 10 years fulltime. Have fun in your travels.
