Solar Setup

My wife just finished installing solar panels on the roof of our DRV and I'll be doing the connections/adjustments to the 60 Amp Renogy MPPT Commander today. Prior to pulling it out in the sun, is there anything that I'm overlooking, or is this truly plug and play?

clev,
Wish I could tell you the answer, but I'm so dumb about it had to have my install done professionally.
Good luck, hope you get the power you need.
Joe

I'm putting the finishing touches on the Renogy 60A MPPT controller but the instructions are pretty poor. For a $500 controller, they should have dancing girls demonstrate it. Anyway, I have the Remote Temerature Sensor ((TS-R) and there are no instructions. It has a picture of being plugged into the controller but nothing for the other end. The other end is a probe that 'appears' to be inserted into a cell, but that can't be correct because none of these types of batteries have open cells. I can call them tomorrow, but I'd like to finish this today. Anyone know where this goes?

Thanks, port; you’ve answered a lot of questions on a few different topics. I appreciate the help.

Similar to the Magnum inverter / charger whose remote temperature probe is to be secured in the battery compartment on or near the battery bank. Since batteries (especially AGMs) can be damaged by overcharging in high ambient conditions, better charge controllers throttle their output. Generally temps much over 77 deg.F charge controllers should scale back from their 100% bulk, absorb. programmed output(s).
Often these probes have an isolated ring that can be secured to an unused aux. lug on a neg. terminal.

Good morning, and yes, all hooked up. I haven’t pulled the 5 out of the garage to check performance, but will on Sunday.
