Camera-ready DRV?

Does anybody have a DRV that came with the back-up camera ready wiring? Somehow I thought ours would have.

You need to order it. Possible even send them the cabling.

Oh, well. I thought maybe I was just missing it somehow. No such luck. I'm thinking I'll just order a rear facing camera with a hook-up to go on the screen of the truck.
Thanks....

Not exactly sure what you mean?
We ordered the cam's. The rear facing cam is wireless, powered by the trailer clearance light(s) circuit which is common. The side view cams are wired through a separate loom through basement via tongue / pinhead to a 7-pin umbilical socket on the underside of the nose cap (near docking lamp). Wiring the truck portion was our responsibility. They are patched into the same approx 8" console mounted panel. Powered by TV.

With a little better fore thought, the whole setup would make a nice in coach CCTV security panel. Discreetly powering the rear cam, a second wiring harness into the electrical closet, then just move the viewing panel from the TV to the coach. Oh well too soon old, too late wise. Hard to know what mfrs. are going to do.
We have some IPCam's we use with our router and smart devices for security.

So to make your backup cam work you have to have your running lights on?

That is the way mine works.

Not that great either. The faster you go the poorer the signal gets. And I was hoping with the technology changes that the picture quality would be better then what was available 5 years ago.

So far, in also searching on other forums, I have heard nothing but bad things about wireless on longer 5'ver's. I may pass on this thing. I'm not interested in more grief.

My RV is prepped for a camera. I bought a Furrion wireless observation camera (vs back-up camera). The observation camera maintains good signal quality regardless of speed and my 5er is 40’ again with good signal strength.

That being said, the actual video display is sufficient but not spectacular.

Wireless here with no issues other than the requirement to power it with the running lights. We occasionally double tow and it lets me keep an eye on the attached trailer.

My 36RSSB3 came with a rear cam system (camera already mounted on rear and a box with the monitor), but I have no idea how to hook the thing up inside my ‘17 F350 DRW. Any tips or instructions would be much appreciated.

Wireless I believe. There isn’t a long cable in the box that would connect the camera to the monitor, so pretty safe to say wireless. It’s the one that came with my ‘18 DRV 36’er if that’s any help. Thanks for helping.

I have the wireless screen in the cockpit that attaches via a suction cup to the windshield. Not the most sophisticated set up but it was quick and easy to use. Only have it in the truck when I am towing. There are some smarter folks that have the cameras wired to the navigation screen but I am not sure I want to go that route.

Sorry I am not more help to you.

Backup Camera System

dmorse68,

If you need some help getting your system to work, I may be able to walk you through it.

Send me a PM, I'll respond with my phone number and then you can call me.

Typing long responses on these forums is not my favorite sport.

I posted previously that I installed my wired system, and power the camera from the running lights. Yes, the running lights have to be on, but daytime running lights are on anyway.
