Wifiranger

I don't understand how the SKY WIFIRANGER works. It only came with the quick start instructions and when I turn on the toggle switch I get nothing on my computer internet access info. Not sure if there is another switch or how to determin if it's actually on.
Anybody have one, it was in my 2016 mobile suite and they didn't say much about it when I did my walk thru

Have you tried the website? https://wifiranger.com/

Suggest you look around at what is there, and give them a call if necessary.

I believe someone could do well for him(her)self by setting up a shop at the DRV factory and charging to teach how to operate the hi-tech stuff. Questions are common about the TV/stereo/satellite connections--now have to include wi-fi questions...

However, wish I had your 2016 to have that problem with...

FWIW, Our WiFi Ranger has not worked from day one. Went through three of their boards (roof unit). Apparently there is a wiring issue that we'll have to have the factory resolve. UGH....

All 3 boards shorted out.
We had a RV Tech come out, and had RV's for Less examine it also. Their board shorted out as well.
When we take the unit to DRV in June 2016 for the last of the warranty work, we'll have them resolve it.
What is frustrating is there we cannot take use of it for 11 months...

Cummins,

Out of curiosity, is your WiFi one of Verizon's MiFi units? We had one of those for all the time we were staying in Oklahoma City and for a while before we moved into the RV and ours worked fine. However, cellular service at Mountaindale is not good, so the MiFi doesn't work here.

We will be leaving Mountaindale in about a year or a bit over, so if you have something other than the MiFi from Verizon, I'd be really interested.

Sorry it's the regular Verizon MiFi but I did add a small antenna that Verizon sold.

Thanks, Cummins.

When I'm at Verizon again, I'll look into the antenna. Of course, by the time we leave here, they probably have an upgraded MiFi compared to the one we have, so we may have to sign up again.

We too have a Verizon MiFi hotspot. If you are able to find an antenna for it, would you share the information on it & if you think it's worth it??

First there needs to be a hole in the MiFi for the antenna to fit into. Just go to Verizon's site they have accessories for it on there. I ordered mine thru the Verizon store. All I know is I have GREAT service where ever I go. So far!

When we leave here, we may not need the MiFi. Jo tells me that both of our phones can serve as hot spots for the internet.

terry,
Just be sure that you understand the data plan--hotspot use can use it up pretty fast. I have 10GB and get pretty close when I am on the internet. I solved part of the problem by getting my wife an iPad Air with included phone--extra number just added $10/month to my ATT plan.

I use a Wilson Cell phone amp. to get my WIFI and cell service when I am in an area that the signal is very weak to nonexistent. I put it on an 7 ft pcv pipe straped to my ladder on the back with hose clamps. Google the Wilson Cell Phone Amp to find out about it. Terry you know how it is out here in Tuttle. At my house I was getting one bar and fading till I got the amp and it gave me 3 bars. I had the same problem at my site in south Texas and I got one for the rig too. I had no bars to sometimes one there to two and three bars now. So Ihave one for the house and one for the rig.

Thanks, Joe and Okie.

We got our MiFi when we were near Tuttle ourselves, but at least we didn't need the extra antenna. Verizon's service was also far superior to AT&T in that area. That MiFi worked fine for us until we got to Colorado and found that the cell service at Mountaindale is pretty bad.

We operate our internet off of the park's WiFi and then we got a Wilson cradle amp and a 10-foot length of PVC attached to the ladder for an antenna. That works pretty well for the one phone that gets the most calls and messages, which is Jo's. I put mine on airplane mode because I seldom get phone calls or text messages.

PROBLEM SOLVED. While having some work done at my dealer on my 2016 mobile suite I asked them to check out the wifi ranger. the tech said there was no power to the unit and after checking the connection at the elec box he pulled a panel above that area to follow the wire up to the roof unit and found the wire rolled up in a neat coil in the wall and was never connected when the unit was built. he connected it and it works now.
