2004 F-350 Crew Cab 6.0L Diesel 4X4 SWD (Real World towing)

New to towing with the truck/engine listed above, and want to buy a 5th wheel. According to Ford, max towing is either 12,100 or 12,700 pounds; however, it is hard to find any decent 5th wheel below that rating. I want to buy one that has a GVWR of 15500 pounds, but wondered if anyone has experience with that motor and 5th wheel towing?

You asked, so don't shoot the messager.....If you stay under a 12K loaded 5th wheel you will keep that truck with the towing specs. Anything more, you will exceed the specs on total truck, rear axle and maybe tires.

The eng and tranny are not an issue since they were also in the 350 DRW

If you want a 15K loaded 5th wheel a dually is in order.
