Select number mattress option

Has anyone changed their mattress to a sleep number bed ? If you have than what size mattress did you order for a replacement for a king size mattress in the current trailer ? We presently have a 2006 Elite suite.

We have! We put a queen size in our last trailer and when we bought the MS the mattress was ok, but we missed the SC. We bought a California king. It's longer than the modified king that comes with the MS and most other trailers that have a king option. The extra length is not a big problem. When we close the slides we just let the air out of the mattress and it just scrunches up. We also raise the head of the power lift bed which takes any pressure of the slide. We've been doing this for over 2 years without problem. The other advantage to this is we can find and use regular Cal King sheets.

The pump sits on the floor under the head of the bed. The hoses just run up between the head of the bed frame and the wall. Not a problem.

Unless you have the optional raising feature and actively use it, consider getting rid of all of that steel under-framing and replacing with standard plywood, the benefits are much lighter structure, gains of at least 1&1/2" in mattress depth that will fit under vanity, no more gouges in your fingers or ripped sheets from those d**n springs, no more pressure points from the steel crossmembers right under your hips and shoulders.

After having made this mod. the Select Comfort fits right underneath the vanity.

We have the power lift bed and we also got rid of the springs. I attached the pieces of luan to the metal frame leaving a gap at the bend point. This allows the bottom of the bed to raise for acess to storage and the top to raise by power. I love the power lift because I have GERD and when I get an attack in the middle of the night I just raise the head of the bed a few inches and go back to sleep. Before we had this I had to get up and try to sleep in a chair.

SC mattress

Did you get the mattress from SC or from Camping World? Can't tell which model the Camping World one is and whether it is priced better than the SC or not. We are thinking of replacing our King with a SC and are looking for ideas.

Thanks

We bought ours from a SC store in Wichita, KS and had it sent to our daughters in MD. It was on sale and at the time I don't think it was available a CW. Remember your "king" is not really a king nor a Cal king, but is a comprimise between the two. It is the same length as a king, but the width of a Cal king.
