On the Go Portable Water Softener - ** Product Review **

5thwheelforums is currently testing this product (http://www.portablewatersoftener.com/) in our new ToyHauler. Our initial impressions of the product are great and we are about to embark on a 2 month trip through out the West so check back later for a more detailed review.
We were turned onto this product at the request of several readers for a review. Knowing the water hardness here in Wyoming was very high and contributed to issues such as scale build up in our water heater and plumbing system, short Anode rod life and shower/sink stains we called the manufacturer and had a unit delivered.
Initial test samples of our water showed our supply to register "hard" or 180 PPM. After attaching the On the Go Portable Water Softener to the end of our fill hose we topped off our fresh tank. Once full we purged all the water lines in our RV by allowing water to run for several minutes and re-sampled. This time the reading was exactly 0. Our trip will have us in our RV full time for 60 days so we should have a very good idea of how the unit is performing and what real-world results are.
Check back soon!

We've been using this product for over 2 years and we love it. We've spent the summer in WY near Yellowstone and the water here is not nearly as hard as the water in the Rio Grande Valley. The softener works very well in the Valley.

Dave - Did you run without this unit for any amount of time and if so did you see a big improvement once switching to this product?

I saw Dave's last year and heard him tell of the big difference in his water, so we bought one too. We have to 'recharge it' every week with one box of table salt. If we shop for sales, about 50 cents a box. The water is totally different now, than it was before we bought it. I recommend it highly for those who travel or have a hard water condition.

Yes, we did stay in the Valley for a year plus before we bought the unit. The difference was amazing! Before the softener we had water spots everywhere and after it they were gone. And the showers! Just wonderful. As for recharging, we only recharge when we feel the need. You can tell when you shower. When the water is really hard it's a couple of weeks, other times it's a couple of months.
