Exterior Shine

Years ago whenever you bought a new car they tried to sell you some type of coating to protect the finish and reduce waxing. The type I remember was MING PLATING but it went by various names. My father had it done on a couple of new cars and as I recall it actually seemed to work. Over the years I have heard less and less about this. Perhaps with new automotive finishes it is not reguired?
Anyway, I just ordered a new fifth wheel and they offered a coating called DIAMOND KOTE which sounds like the same thing. The dealer states it will prevent fading of my painted graphics on the Gel Coat, guaranteed etc etc.
What do you tHink? I sure would like to reduce waxing and it will be parked outside always.

Diamond Kote

Igotjam

Can't tell you much about the Diamond Kote but it sounds like a good idea. What kind of trailer did you buy?
How do you like your 08 450 and last is it gas or diesel?

Good luck with your unit.

As always good camping

I don"t think I would have it done I have not seen anything that truly stops oxidation your gel coat should protect the finish and the sad fact is maintenance is part of owning anything I use protect-all on every rv I have had wax on wax off has a uv blocker and can be used on virtually any surface plastic, fiberglass, glass, rubber, does not harm decals or gelcoat twice a year in the spring and in the fall and if you use a good car wash/wax combo every time you wash it just helps even more.Main thing is keep the roof clean and the rest will be alot easier.

Thanks for the replies. With regards to questions. the F-450 was built last week and is on a train to me (hope I'll like it). The F-450 with a box only comes as a diesel crew cab in 2008 (not sure but you might be able to get gas on a cab and chassis only) I have on order a Doubletree ES 36re3.

Thanks for the reply keep us informed as to how you like the Truck. I got my copy of Trailer Life yesterday and got a chance to read a little today. They have an article about the new 450 with the pickup bed they claimed that you could buy it with the 5.4 or the V-10 but they have been incorrect in a lot of their reports.

I'm a gas man and would only buy if I could get the V-10 I have also heard that the Trition line is on the way out and is going to be replaced by a new line called the Hurricane. Time will tell.

Hope you have good luck with both of your units

As always good camping

I have a early 2004 DT and it looks good without ever being wax. This is also the 4th winter in the AZ sun and nevered been instorage as we are full timers. I would not spend my $$ on any added sealer or coating, not needed.

diamond kote

I at one time worked in a car dealership in my early days and Diamond Kote was the biggest rip off for the customer and the great money maker for the dealer, it came in a small bottle that is rubbed on like wax. I never buy it after seeing it put on a car.

I don't usually endorse products but there is one that has been good to me. It's called Dri Wash and it makes for an excellent cleaner and polish in one step. Easy on and off. A bottle runs around $40.00 the last time I checked. It's on the web.

I reccomend the Aero Space 303 cleaner and protectant...look them up, it will give you a lot of info...I have used Meguire's Flagship and Rejex in the past, I feel that this 303 protectant is a little better...just my two cents worth.
