110 Volt Light Switches

Or whatever the voltage is. Problem is this:
When the unit was less than a year old the switch for the ceiling fan failed; it would just flop back and forth. You could make the fan work if you pushed real hard on the switch but would not stay on if you took the pressure away. DRV sent me a new switch and it is still ok.
Now, the light switch by the entrance door for the overhead sink lights is doing the same thing. These are kind of strange light switches: a line in and a line out. Question is can I use a regular house dimmer switch?
