Bathroom Exhaust Fan

I have been having a problem with a few drops of water coming off my bathroom exhaust fan when it rains hard. I went up on the roof with the fan blowing and could not find an outlet for the fan. I took the fan down in the bath room and found that it is not connected to any outlet. Two questions. Were does the fan exhaust to? And were is the water coming from when it rains?
