Strength of Shower Seat Mount?

We have the DRV shower seat in our suite but have been afraid to put much weight on it. The design of the attach points coupled with the distance the seat extends out would appear to put a tremendous amount of leverage on the mounting screws trying to rip them out of the wall. Has anyone put one of these seats to the test by actually sitting on it and if so has it held up over time?

Bill, the screws are actually not seating into the shower wall or were not in the installation I saw years ago in the factory. They are seated into a length of 2x4 behind the shower wall. That spreads the load out over a larger area in the shower wall but the wall does bear the entire load. They really should have put in a forward folding brace that would rest on the shower floor in addition to the mount they have. The wife uses the seat and uses it by sitting on it gingerly but since I am over 200 lbs., I won't use it at all.

I heard from a DRV representative today and understand that the seat is rated to 300# capacity. Also was told by another DRV representative that they have never heard of any problem with seat mount failing. Based on that I tested it out with my 200#...OK my 210# this evening and ... no problem. Sooo sit down and take a load off your mind.

This is our 2nd Mobile Suites with the shower seat. As Motor 31 says the seat is anchored to a 2/4 behind the shower wall. GBY...
