Door Lock

I have read that the compartment doors have a generic key but how about the Main entry door?

Do I need to re-key the Main Door also?

Thanks,

Marty

I've had the service writers at several dealers of 2 brands tell me that the door handle lock is common, but the dead bolt is not. If you lock the dead bolt they can not get in.

When they gave me the keys to do my self PDI they gave me 2 sets (they didn't know which keys were for my trailer) Both looked the same but had different numbers on them. One set worked (both the door and deadbolt) one set didn't. My guess would be that there are many different door locks...unlike the compartments that are all 751s. That's just a guess.

A few months ago, our MS was at the dealer's to have the cooling unit in the fridge changed out. Sandy went by to get something out of the RV and, out of habit, locked the door - including the deadbolt. The dealer called me at work about an hour later asking if I could come unlock the door since they couldn't get in with the deadbolt locked - they said the lock on the handle was no problem.

Imagine my surprise when the keys that came with our new motorcycle garage (20' Interstate brand cargo trailer) was able to lock and unlock both the deadbolt and the regular lock on our TK3. I suppose the upside is that we now have 4 RV keys....the downside is wondering how many other people have keys that will open our "home" and "garage" ?

Regards

Ummm, you can get locked out, too. With your keys inside.

I didn't know it could lock without turning the key from the outside, but it can, and did with me and George and the dogs outside. He was pretty pi**ed at me.

Unless they go electronic, I can see where metal keys are duplicated many times. There can only be so many key configurations.

Well, it looks like "Gloria" is a bit busy. She is even signing up using different numbers following her name, and it is obvious that she is a spammer. On the Cargo Door Locks thread, she is signed in as Gloria01.

Looks like the administrator has some work cut out for him.
