Return air filters

2016 Keystone Alpine has very poor return air filters and grate system. I have two as with two return Filters in the outer corners of the ceiling. Thought they were cool until I took them down to clean them. Filters fill up quick and screws holding the registers wrap up the filter media when re-installing them. Bad design as is the a/c duct work and dual zone thermostat.

Any ideas on a better filter system.

If your ceiling is like mine, I went to the hardware store and purchased 2 chrome bolts about 1 inch long, and 4 small nuts with 4 washers and 2 nice knurled knobs that would screw on to the bolt. You can pick any knob you like to look at as long as it will screw onto the bolt. I then ran a nut up the bolt almost to the end near the head, put a washer on then poked the bolt from the back side of the ceiling down and then put another washer and nut on and tightened that nut tight allowing the bolt to stick down so a new vent cover I bought could be bolted up to the ceiling. I got a nice wooded one at Home Depot and a quality washable filter material I cut to fit inside the vent. Having the nuts and washer I could adjust the lenght of bolt sticking down through the ceiling material and used the knurled nut to finish holding up the new wooden vent. The vent material gets dirty and constant removing will cause the original design to fail and the holes enlongated and the vents fall down. This stopped that and also made cleaning the filters much easier. Just how I did it.
