Ducting in 2016 JX450

New owners of this unit that has three Penguin II ACs. We were concerned about the lack of air flow from many of the ceiling registers. We removed all the register covers and, using a bore camera, discovered that many of the ducts had collapsed. We've used thin pieces of plywood (that we covered with duct tape to protect the duct work from sharp splinters) and have been successful in opening the collapsed ducts and improving the air flow.

Are the ducts from the front to the back of this unit supposed to be connected? (E.g. should we get SOME airflow in the bedroom when only the kitchen AC unit is running?)

Should the third AC (over the garage/toy hauler space) be ducted to the kitchen as well? Using the bore camera, we found the ducts that lead toward the kitchen are not connected to the kitchen ducts at all.

Thanks,
Kathy

I believe all the units are connected by an H design from all units, but the design seems to limit output from any unit to the openings nearest it. You can hang a thin strip of paper/plastic from a vent opening and watch for movement when you turn on a unit. Would not expect much from one end to the other, but some output from front to middle, back to middle, and middle to either direction. Don't know if the 3rd AC shares the ducting on a JX, if you email Alicia Tennery at RollingRetreats.com , she will have an answer.

Rolling Retreats is definitely worth the effort to get to. We just got back from having 3rd ac unit installed. Slade addressed these very issues and all of our units work in perfect harmony. You can feel the same air flow from anywhere in the coach. HIGHLY recommend Rolling Retreats!

If you have a skylight in the bathroom the curbside duct probably does not go all the way from front to back depending on your layout.

Mine does not. It is capped on either side of the skylight.

The Suites may have a completely different set up than the Tradition.
