2012 Ram 3500 SRW
Im looking at a TV for our 2004 Mobile Suites 36tk3. (GVWR=16,000#, UVW=13,537#) I'm not sure how to figure pin weight. If it means anything I will only be moving 5th wheel 2-3 times a year. Can this truck handle the 5'er? Thanks!
The Specs on the 2012 Ram 3500 4X4 SRW are:
GVWR=10,100
PAYLOAD=2,630
BASE WEIGHT=7,469
BASE WEIGHT (FRONT)=4,648
BASE WEIGHT (REAR)=2,822
GAWR (FRONT)=5,500
GAWR (REAR)=6,200
GCWR=21,000
MAX TRAILER=13,400

You don't say if the move will be a loaded trailer and for what distance. If it is a move from your home to a seasonal site 20 miles away or a loaded vacation for 2,000 miles. The weak point on that truck it the available pin weight it can carry. A loaded 16,000 lb Mobile Suites trailer could easily have a pin weight of close to 4,000 lbs. The standard statement is take the gross weight and multiply by 20% to get the average pin. But MS trailers have a huge storage space and tend to have higher pin weights. I would say you are going to be overloaded on one or more of the trucks capacities. Tire, axle, gross or combined.

The pin weight itself is more than the payload capacity.

Look at my signature block, the 1ton works for me, I pull fully loaded most of the time. Weight police can jump in if thet like.

You need a dually. My pin weight is 4,500# on our 36 SB3 Mobile Suites. Sure people do it with 2500 and 3500 single rear wheel trucks but IMHO they are crazy!
