Newbies in TN

Hello everyone - Fred and Tara from Middle Tennessee. We decided to go the route of buying our tow vehicle first to now fit a trailer to what we can safely tow. We now have a Silverado 3500 w/Duramax Diesel. I believe the max cargo is 3,900 lbs so we have quite a bit of flexibility when it comes to fifth wheel choices.

Question I have for the board - We are looking for a florrplan that will sleep 4 (two teen boys 16 and 14 and ourselves). Not necessarily looking for a bunkhouse as that is now wasted space when they start to head to college but obviously do not want to force them to share the same pull out couch.

What recommendations do you have to comfortably sleep the four of us and offers an outside entertainment/TV feature?

The first thing you should do is to fill your fuel tank, load up whatever you would be carrying in your truck when you are towing - grille, dogs, and the whole family and head to the nearest truck stop and get weighed - total and each axle. Add 175 lbs for the 5th wheel hitch and see what your weight is. Subtract this from your GVWR on the tag on the B post of your truck and you will know what the maximum pin weight you can have. Figure your pin weight will be around 20% of the GVWR of the trailer. The dealer will say the pin weight is as specified on the factory weight, but when you are loaded, the factory pin weight is just a myth.
