7500 lbs Axle rating

According to brochure for 2011 Mobile and Elite Suites they have 8,000 lbs rated axles. On my tag it says 7500 lbs axles. My GVWR is 18,500
First thing is I've never heard of 7500 lbs axles.
Another thing on mine is by the door the model reads 36 TKSB3.
Yet it's a 36 RSSB3, that's also what's on my sales contract.

So could it be whom ever was putting that info in had a few too many beers.

I would bet that you have 8k axles. Never have heard of any other than 7 and 8k axles, until 9k from Morryde on the IS units. You have the peninsula island, or the walkaround island? I would also believe the model #s on the door over the sales contract, unless there has been some bodywork done in the past.

Contact DRV--gregweldon@drvsuites.com--with the VIN and he can clear it all up. Be patience, he is a one-man dept and stays covered up.

Walkaround island which makes it a 36 RSSB3. My understanding is TK stands for telescopic kitchen. My floor plan looks just like the 36 RSSB3 in the 2019 brochure. Except I also have the vanity slide.

The limiting axle factor is the "G" tires. Axles/spindles will be 8K.

Yes I agree, but axle rating should show 8,000 lbs not 7,500 lbs.
Depending upon what tires and wheels you could also be over that 8,000 lbs rating.
I can tell you by the tires on my F-350 they hold more weight than the rear axle is rated for. Oh & my tires are rated for 3960 lbs so not that far off.

Yes they are. Didn't your 36TKSB3 have a "L" shaped kitchen & not a walk through?

Sorry I forgot the actual number! It was a 2007.5 "36 SB3". It had an Island.

My axles had 8k on them but the backing plate for the Calipers was 7 or 7.5K and the calipers and brakes were the same as the 8k models. I punched out the 9/16" studs and replaced with 5/8 to get the proper rating with the Alcoa wheels and 17.5" GY tires I went with.

The trailer manufacturer sets GAWRs in accordance with directions in the FMVSS. The vehicle certified GAWRs - shown in the OPs reference - are the only official ratings recognized for that vehicle.

The method used for determining vehicle certified axles is simple and goes like this. The trailer manufacturer's tongue/hitch weight, when added to the total vehicle certified GAWRs MUST not be less than the vehicle certified GVWR.

Once the trailer passes to the consumer that tongue weight is 100% their responsibility. (Scales are our friends.)

Hi Mike,

We have a 2007 32TKS3 MS that we bought new from Sunshine Motors in Lake Havasu City, AZ in May 2007. As best that I can recall, the axles were advertised as 8000 lb. axles. Shortly after we took delivery, DRV sent us a letter with new decals that state the axles are rated at 7500 lbs.

I'm not sure about your rig, but on our 2007 there is a label attached to each axle with the load rating. You may want to crawl under your rig to see if there is a label attached to the axles. It is about mid-point on the axle.

Regardless of what the axle manufacture's load rating on the individual axle is, the vehicle manufacturer's certified GAWRs on that label are the only official maximum load for those axles.

The vehicle manufacturer can be forced into a recall situation if the math for GAWRs, the GVWR and the recommended tongue/hitch weights do not add up properly. Tires also are a consideration if they do not qualify for the vehicle certified GAWRs. It's a lot less expensive for the trailer manufacturer to compensate with cargo weights rather than provide a whole new set of tires.

When it comes right down to it, as I have 13,500 lbs on both axles I'm under weight. That is my axle are not me.

I would contact DRV customer service and ask for Greg Weldon 260-562-1317. He's very good and should be able to answer your question.
