Tradition line

Has anyone been thru the Traditions FW ? Thoughts or comments on material qualities, build quality? Full timing? We will see them in Hershey RV show in Sept.but there are no dealers near us.... so we will have to wait til Sept. But I am interested in other peoples observations of them

Traditions is the replacement line for the Select Suites, and they are their own design. SS was basically an MS on lighter frame and lest costly materials; Traditions is now a stand-alone model line, and you can equip it with most of the MS options. A visit to the factory is well worth the time if you are very interested in purchasing a DRV unit.

When we saw a couple back in Feb at the Tampa RV Show we were not impressed with the product compared to the Select Suite and other DRV lines. Seems like they really went cheap, but were asking a lot for the unit.

Chief,
Believe you to be correct, but if you want a DRV product with less weight, then the Traditions is only was to go...

Thanks for the replies ! We have been focusing on Drv and Redwood , I prefer Drv and the wife is leaning toward the Redwood . We still have approx.2 yrs before we go full-time and we have eliminated some of the other manufacturers due to poor quality materails and workmanship or the floor plans were just horrible,It seems that none of the brands out there are exactly what we are looking for so we will have to comprimise on some things. But quality isn't going to be one of them

I would consider buying a lightly used Mobile or Elite as opposed to buying new lower quality anything. If full time is in your future, why settle for less than the best, especially since these two rigs are built for that exact reason. There are many listed here from time to time and in many cases you would spend less for them than a new lesser quality rig. Something to think about. And, for the most part many of the "bugs" would have been worked out...

If I remember correctly (and yes that is always a question), the Tradition is a downsize from the Select Suites and is pretty much a competitor for the Redwood. I just looked at the information on the frames and the Tradition has a 12" I-beam frame. On the Redwood, they mention that the "drop frame" is 10" and the "main frame" is 12".

So, is the "drop frame" that part that the majority of the coach is built upon and that the suspension is attached to, with the higher part of the frame being for the bedroom? If so, then I would worry a bit about that 10" drop frame.

Oh, and if you consider a used Mobile Suites or Elite Suites, look at the website of Rolling Retreats in Elk City, OK. While they are a full DRV dealer, they occasionally get used units and resell them.

I agree with Stripit. Lightly used or fulltimed in, a Suite seems to hold up much better than many of the Used other brands.

Suites are also fairly easy to make some modifications to, if they are missing some options. We've seen some amazing redos over the last few years. That's why we've added upgrades as we felt the need, rather than buy another new one.

Thanks for the input, We are leaning to the Elite or Mobile Suites and possibly Redwood (if they can get their quality control in line), we are planning on attending the Hershey Pa. Rv show in Sept. so we will checking out our choices very carefully!
