California Hwy 1

We're contemplating taking a trip up (or down) CA Hwy 1 between LA and the Bay area this summer. Has anyone gone that way with a large rig? (ours is a 37 foot MS). I've heard it's pretty narrow in places. Very many RV parks?
Thanks,
Ron

Never been on it, but have seen the results of pulling a 36'MS on it, and it wiped out the side by scraping a rock.
I'll bet you will get some real answers from others that will tell you--NO.

We took that route South from SF Carmel area to LA area. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride the roads were curvy and narrow at times but it was worth it. We did not stay along the way but there were places people were Boondocking along the beach and did notice a campground on the north end of the route.

Hurst Castle is along the way next time we will stop there, supposed to be worth it.

The roads when curvy are easy to negotiate since they are all banked nicely. I found my self driving pretty fast at times!

North of San Francisco would be the real problem towing anything.

Sounds like I should not try that route!

Have you ever been on Chuckanut Drive between Bellingham and Bow/Burlington, WA?

Took the Dually that way the other day and I with I had not! VERY narrow.

Drove that route a few years ago pulling a 34 ft. 5th wheel. Absolutely loved the trip and would do it again in a heart beat. There are lots of ups and downs and curves with a lot of switchbacks between Leggit and Fort
Bragg. I had a "truck" under the trailer, I would not want to do the trip with some of the little tow vehicles people use. We found lots of nice camping spots. Plan some time for the Redwoods, they are truly spectacular plus lots of other attractions.

Once you get south of Big Sur, plenty of camping and very good roads. I highly recommend the route,,,just take your time towing.
