Insurance, all kinds

Little over 2 years ago, I moved to get some room for the trailer and got some info on insurance from members here. And I saved some on what I was paying. Trucks, house and trailer were all coming due in Feb, so I began looking over what my costs were and renewals. Texas is an odd insurance state, and premiums were slowly creeping upwards. I finally got all my coverage pages out and took them shopping, and very little luck getting lower quoter til I checked with Texas Farm Bureau. Short story: I am saving $630/yr on the house, $996 on the trucks and $127 on the trailer--all for the same or better coverage. Plus, they never balked at replacement cost on the trailer nor coverage on the 450. This was the quickest and simplest I have ever been through to obtain insurance with a new carrier. Shame on me for not checking more thoroughly before--$1700+ is a lot of money. So, if you live in TX, and need some options on insurance costs, give TFB a chance.

Wingnut60,

Here in Oklahoma, I currently have Oklahoma Farm Bureau as the insurer on my vehicles, my house, and my 26 foot camper. Some time back, I checked with them to see if they would cover us if we were living in an RV full time. At the time, they told us they would NOT cover us.

So, my questions are:

1. Do you live full time in your DRV?

2. If so, did you tell your agent that you full time it?

If you are able to be full time and get Farm Bureau insurance, then I guess I need to check back with Oklahoma's offices. I have been a Farm Bureau member and customer off and on ever since I was 16 and had my first car. Now, I'm 63 and still using them.

Farm Bureau

Terry,
No, not fulltime. And I think there is no actual comparison between TX and OK Farm Bureaus. Insurance is individual to each state. I was just glad to find someone who was interested in writing policies for fifth wheels AND F450s.
If you go full time someday, just need to find one of the insurers our forum members use, or the Escapees organization will fix you up.

Wish I had your organizational patience--been reading all your posts about getting ready for the big day.

Good luck.

Joe

Terry,

Give farm and City insurance services a call about full time insurance. 800-331-1520 or www.rvadvantage.com

They are a broker and handle many different insurtance providers. They understand MDT's and full timers.

A second recommendation mentioned by Mike Nancy & the fuzzies, regarding Farm & City Insurance. Great customer service, especially regarding full timers. 1-800-331-1520
