Still not fixed, huh ?

I was hoping that the screen "over run" had been fixed,
but I see it hasn't.

This is a nice forum, it has the right amount of sections, easy to
post and find threads..

BUT ..... it's all but impossible to read because of the screen over run..

I have to keep sliding the screen back and forth, back and forth,
to read a post.. This takes all the fun out of reading the posts.

This is the ONLY RV forum out of 24 RV forums I am a member
of that has this problem..

Why can't it be fixed ?

Thanks,
John

EDIT: I had to go back and chop up my
sentences just so I could read what I had
written with out sliding the screen back and
forth ...

John,
I used to have the same problem until I changed my screen resolution in settings for my desktop to 1024 X 768. This took care of the problem. By the way, I still have problems when viewing my Yahoo group sometimes.

Hi Bryan,

I tried that last year and the web site only
used half of my monitor screen. The print
was so small that I could not read it..

I could have placed the entire web page
into an 8" x 10" size monitor..

So I went back to the standard settings
that came with all my computers... 800 x 600..

The part I don't understand is why this is the
only web page I have found on the internet that
has screen over run.

Unless the web master constructed the web
site while in a 1024 x 768 setting instead of the
internet standard of 800 x 600.
But I can't figure why they would do that..

There have been a couple of times on the
other forums when screen run over happened,
but it was due to some one posting a large photograph.

The admin of the site had them re-size the photo
and everything returned to normal..
At first I thought this was the problem here, but I guess
not..

Anyway, thanks for the come back, I appreciate it,

John

darn it... I had to go back and edit this reply by chopping
up the sentences so it could be read without sliding
the screen back and forth.

This is really weird, John because I don't think most of us are having this problem. I only get it when a large picture is posted on a thread. The reason I don't think this is a general problem is because there was a big issue the first time it happened with a picture and there has been nothing said since.

800 x600 is old standard and whent out with VGA. You need the 1024 x 768 to view correctly. If your having trouble there you need to resize the text in your browser and steach the browser window to fit your screen. If you can't do that it my be time to update your programs or even your computer.

John,
Check your font size. I have ours set to large as opposed to normal.

Out of fairness, I just went back and reset my screen to the 1024 x 768 and its the same as before..

I have two inches of wasted space on both sides of the 15" screen and the words that I am typing are so small that I can't read them at all.. about a font size 4.. I'm using a magnifying desk lamp to see what I'm doing here..

I reset the font size to EXtra large and even tried the "control-wheel" trick... nothing will increase the font size...

I guess the good Lord just doesn't want me to see this site.. oh well..
Thanks for trying to help folks, I really do appreciate it..

I'm going to reset my screen to the 800 x 600 so I can see the rest of the internet without a magnifying glass. Maybe We'll see each other on the other RV forums..

Thanks again,
John

Under internet options you can set the browser to the higher resolution 1024 x 768 AND then chose a font size to make the print larger at that resolution. Look to the View tab on the EI browser bar and choose font size there after resizing the screen resolution.

Thanks Mike,
I did try that and could not get any font to increase in size to match the so-called "normal" size text that the internet sites use.

oh well, such is life, thanks again,
John

If the image does not fill the screen when you adjust to the higher resolution, you might try changing the "refresh rate". Many times that change will allow the screen to be filled and may then allow adjustments to font size that would be helpful. btw, 1024 X 768 really is becoming more and more common.

I don't have any problems with my display but I'm just curious about how you change the "refresh rate".

The problem here is that the 5th Wheel Forums Logo is 385 pixels wide and the banner next to it is 468 pixels wide. Which means that you get 853 pixels wide from those alone. Anyone set at 800 X 600 is going to get a cross scroll. The problem can be fixed by either removing the banner or downsizing the logo. I'd bet that no one will remove the banner though.
