5th Wheeler in Process

We are new members to the Forum and are looking to take advantage of the information available here. My wife and I retired in early 2014 and spent Oct - April in Az & NM before heading back home to VT. We have made the decision to go Full Time. Yes, we did like it that much. So, we are in the process of selling our house and replacing our 2014 Airstream. We are currently looking to replace it with a Mobile Suites 5'er. Look forward to participating in your forum.

Wish we had the nerve to try the full-timing. Just can't seem to let the S&B go...

Our house was gone last Nov 15th and we've been on the road in our Mobile SUites Estates 38 foot ever since. Be prepared to deal with multiple little irritants as you can likely see from browsing this forum. Overall, we are loving this life-style and our fifth wheel is very comfortable, we don't miss all our stuff at all. Just make sure you have the right truck to pull, these things are heavy....we are running a F350 Diesel DRW, which works fine. Good luck to you...it's an adventure.

We are considering a 5th wheel versus a travel trailer, out plans initially are to spend
4-5 months traveling. Seeking input, experiences etc to shed some light
on which unit is the best. Pros, cons? Can we use a short bed to pull a 5th wheel.
Help please

While it is possible to pull a fifth wheel with a short bed, it is not the best choice by far, you have to get a slider hitch and it is not going to be easy. The big advantage to a fifth wheel is the storage space you get to carry your gear for staying extended periods on the road. You will also fin a fifth wheel does not have the sway you experience with a travel trailer, especially if you, have a dually. You can get by with a cheaper truck with a travel trailer, if you want to sacrifice storage and tow ability.

We made it 8 years full time traveling, and would still be out there except we bought a home and stopped the travel. Never planned on leaving the road but the home changed our plans. We figured we might as well travel with a home 'feel' trailer and the Mobile Suites fit that bill. Loved how the quiet of the unit felt and how easy it was to pull behind my truck. Don't think we will ever be full time again, but hope to get back to doing some travel some time soon.

Best-built? How much do you want to spend--DRV is up there, but still not perfect.
Welcome to the forum.

Then I guess the next step is possible minimum lengths that meet your needs...and probable starting prices of $150k.
