On Friday I had a long conversation with Wyatt who is Marsha Trautman's son at Space Craft she is the owner and I did ask to represent the company, my 31 years in sales and marketing could be put to good use!

New Horizons is a great company, it only took them almost a month to send me information in the mail and they never returned my phone messages. I moved on.

Drv has been very responsive but they need to hire Paul Cross as Quality Control Director.

I would love to work in the RV industry so I could make a real difference.

I know nothing about Space Craft!!!!! However as many miles as we have traveled I have never seen a Space Craft in a RV Park. So really don't have a opinion about a Space Craft. But if thats what makes a person happy then by all means buy a Space Craft. I will just have to make do with our MS. GBY....

Greg,,Wyatt whatever.
After 25 years in the military I received my BS in BS..After 15 years as a police officer I received my PhD in BS..You have a very good sales technique. I don't know if the other folks on this site would be offended by wasting time spent responding to a salesman or not. I know I have better things to do than that. If you would like me to point out things that you said than I'll be more than happy too. ie: New Horizions took a month to respond.. If you recall I told you about NH on 30 Aug and you were going to check them out. Now I really did go to the factory in Concordia. I decided that if I wanted to go with a conex box on wheels I would have gone with a Space Craft.
Cheers and much success in your career at Space Craft.

I have had the chance to visit both Spacecraft and New Horizons factories several years ago when we were searching for our RV. I was more impressed with New Horizons looks than Spacecraft but that was more because they look more like the "standard" 5th wheel externally than Spacecraft's units did. Nothing bad just more in line for what you see normally in the RV parks. A little more angular shape at the time and I have no idea if they changed in the almost 6 years since we looked at them.

Spacecraft does however build RV's on a commercial (read as a semi) trailer frame and that was what we were interested in at the time. My thought was to have a really sturdy unit built that could even be "remodeled" later on and since we tow with a retired semi tractor (the Volvo) the weight and geometry of the trailer would not have been a factor for us. It would have actually worked out better due to the use of full air brakes and the ability to put the axles farther back.

Both manufacturers have much to offer in their products and they both have a good reputation. Unfortunately both brands were out of our price range so we didn't go much farther in looking at them.

While not meaning to be disrespectful in any way, after reading through Greg's postings (mostly under only two different threads), I don't fully understand why he would want to go with a "camper" of any kind. One of his post referred to "staying in place" anywhere from a few months to a few years.

If it were only a few months, I could understand, but if there is a consideration for staying for "years", then why not rent apartments? Or, purchase a good "single wide" mobile home?

While SpaceCraft may be building a custom "camper", I would think that the use of a full sized bathtub is going to come at the cost of space elsewhere.

I don't know how much Greg has been researching, but I haven't found him much on the forums. Two threads here on Fifth Wheel Forums and none on SOITC or Escapees. (At least, not under the same user name.)

That doesn't seem to be much in the way of threads originated by him or questions posed within threads started by others. I would think that before ordering any product within the cost range of RV's that one would really be out there in the forums. Now, if he has been reading but not posting, then I guess that would be alright, although it would limit the possibilities of clarifying the comments of others.

But, hey. It's his money.

As for the "R" rating factor, I think I saw somewhere on SpaceCrafts website that their rating was much lower than DRV's rating is. So, if DRV is "making up" their rating, what evidence is there of that?

Just for the sake of curiosity, I have a follow up question regarding the insulation. If I remember correctly, I think I had heard or read that DRV "glued" in the batt insulation in the walls of their units. Does anyone know for sure that what I heard was true?

Terry

You will notice that Space Craft uses that cheap fiberglass batt insulation also, along with polystyrene.

Not knocking your choice or the manufacturer, but I'm happy with our MS.

Morscuba~

I thank you for your military service to this great country of ours, I come from a long line of Navy men, WWI,WWII & Vietnam.

Thank you also for your public service to protect and serve our freedom on the streets of our cities, my uncle was a police officer in Detroit and I have chaired many fund raisers for law enforcement over the years.

My 31 years of sales and marketing in all intangable, I am a Human Capitol Specialist. I mentor, speak, write and act mainly as a career coach. The rest of my time is devoted to my charity work and family.

I mis spoke on New Horizons never getting back to me in over a month, you are correct sir it was two weeks at the time and as of this date no one ever followed up. They are a fine company who makes quality products, maybe just very busy. I was thinking of another company at the time I was posting.

In my semi retirement I would greatly enjoy being a part of the RV industry and did mention to Wyatt with Space Craft "if you need any help in marketing your products please feel free to contact me".

DRV makes a very fine product when you compare them with all manufactures of 5th wheels. I am very happy for all those who have had little to no problems.

I have read 45 pages of thread in this Fourm alone and would like to again thank you and everyone for all the useful information.

If their is a web site out their on 5th wheels, motorhomes or travel trailers I have more than likey read it.

I have not posted any threads on other sites, but I have done my homework.

My family has made a decision to purchase an RV, we are seeking a lifestyle and that lifestyle is what we chose to make it, 1 month in an RV park, 6 months or longer that is our choice. Freedom is why we all can make these choices.

Yes, I do have a BS degree, it may the same one you received.

It is your right in a free fourm to call me a salesman and to broadcast on this fourm that any response to my open process is a waste of time.

Respectfully.

Your right Greg.. I spoke or wrote when I didn't really need to. Have a great semi-retirement. Happy tavels and good luck with the new RV of your choice.
