I was thinking that it was the owners of Sunnybrook that started what was then called Doubletree RV. Supposedly, those owners chose to start DRV because a number of customers had suggested that they build RV's specifically built for full-timers.
I'm thinking that I was told that by Melinda King, who was a factory rep for DRV Suites at the time.

As I recall, Sunnybrook owners didn't want to build a higher end trailer, and Dave, one of the owners did. So he left Sunnybrook and started Double Tree as Mobile Suites. A few of the first trailers were built on the Sunnybrook line as Dave was still an owner and those trailer have built by SunnyBrook on the trailer. Once Dave's plant was up and running the Sunnybrook nameplate came off the trailers.

Thanks, that more like I remember the story. I also heard about that time that the SB leader was more into auctioneering than running SB, thus some of the reason for the decline?? Rumors, or fact? No idea.

FWIIW, as mentioned before i was told by the Glacier Bay startup folks at the time that 4-5 top level SB people did not like the direction the company was heading and left and formed Glacier Bay. True or not I had no reason not believe the execs that were at their first Hershey RV show.
I had seen the decline of SB first hand and saw some of the decline in build quality during my factory visits.

Man, that GB looks a lot like the original Mobile Suites in '03/'04.
