8K Mor-ryde IS axles
Replacing 8K axles with 9K axles @ morryde - 8/11-12/2016 . Have @ 8000 miles on them. Morryde can not resale them! Can anybody use them?

My question is "WHY" are you replacing them?
Did you know the 9K has the exact same brake pad as the 8K?
I was at the factory about two months ago to get the riser added and was considering the 9K because my combined axle load was 17,500#. But after getting there they checked my spring offset and the condition of the rubber springs and determined even tho I am over the 8K rating I was still well within their spec for the 8K axles and left well enough alone. I did end up with a 3" riser to get our RV level.

8K axles
my concern was a BRAKE issue and I was informed that the 9K axles had bigger brakes with more stopping power, per Mor-Ryde engineer!!! Also , as a full-timer we are riding HEAVY . I THINK I'm making the right choice , unless my info is incorrect!

Man, wish you were doing this a year ago--replaced my 7ks with 8ks.
Anyone with an early Suites with 7k ought to take notice of this....
Have you mentioned this on the SOITC forum?

I have NOT done that BUT I'm going to do it right now! I thumb thur most of the forums and figured most others do too, my BAD !! Hoping someone can use them or they are just SCRAP !

You should also look on the internet for spring and axle shops in the MorRyde area--I would bet you one of them would take them off your hands for some price...also, list on Craigslist in the Elkhart area that you will have them available at some date.
I wonder what MorRyde does with all the assemblies they end up with? They can't sell them (prob don't want to risk the liability) but surely they have a outlet for used axles?

Maybe it's just me but I would not go thru the expense of putting used axels under my rig. Not even free ones. If MorRyde won't install them, who you going to get to align them?

I am telling you the brake pads are EXACTLY the same on the 8 and 9K. They DO have a bigger caliper and rotor. You can see this system COULD be great with the proper pads and caliper.
Are you heavier than me? I am a full timer also. Are your brakes not working like they should? What is your tow vehicle?
I went there with full intention of spending the money on the 9K if needed and they said it was not needed and just did the lift.

Here is a pic of the 8 and 9 K.
Actually the one on the left is the 9K and two on right are 7K. I think they have the same pads also NOT sure. The 8K main suspension looks like the 9K
In fact the springs are the SAME just a bigger number that gives more stiffness.

If it is an axle swap--say 7ks to 8ks, or the newer 8ks for older 8ks, it is a simple muscle swap with the alignment taken care of. It its putting the 8ks under a frame not already set up for them, that is a different situation. At any rate, most professional axle/spring shops can do this easily. My 8s were put in by a welding shop that works on trailers daily, and did the alignment.

Sorry Joe. It's NOT that simple. Other wise DRV would not take each trailer to MorRyde for alignment. The weldments are already there, so their part is a simple bolt up. Then alignment.

I was referring to the straight standard 8k axles--I don't think that DRV would send those to MorRyde for alignment. Certainly, I would want MR to set their axles correctly.

DRV sends every MorRyde equipped trailer to them for alignment. MorRyde's requirement.

What's the GCWR of your trailer? After seeing your weight ticket and reading that Mor-Ryde said you're good with the 8,000 lb. axles, I'm not so worried at only being 500 lbs. overweight on mine. I've got almost the exact same setup as you, except my Mobile Suites is a 2014 model.

The rating is 21K and RV is at 23K. I replaced the kingpin bolts with 3/4" frame bolts. I know "technically" I am overloaded but not worried as MORryde gave me their blessing and the GY "H" tires still have capacity at 4,805# each.
If you have the TrailAire inbox I would look into upgrading the bolts.

Thanks for the heads up on the king pin bolts. I had never thought of checking them. My pin box is the MORryde rubber one. I took out one bolt just to check for size, and decided that everything was too tight to go with larger ones. I bought new grade 8 (the old ones were grade 5) bolts, lock washers, and nuts and changed them all out. I'm glad I did. Two of the washers were way too big, and another one was broken.
