Glen West, I had the exact same experience two months ago.
No real good reason for it, tread peeled, tire stayed inflated.
GY was very good about it.
I opened a claim, followed their instructions, bought a replacement, and in about 3 weeks I received compensation.
The whole deal revolves around getting your tire back to Akron, Ohio for inspection.
