I'm really sorry to hear of their dilemma, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Happy to hear no one was hurt. Hope they get back on the road soon.

Another application for a Tire Pressure Monitoring System which also measures the temperature.

We had a bearing burn up on the RV just north of Las Vegas in April. TPMS alarm went off, pulled over, went out to check and found bearing grease all over the wheel rim and bearing parts hanging on the end of the axle. Went back into the truck, checked the temperature and pressure. The temperature had risen to 227 deg. F and the tire pressure was up to 167 psi. Wifee was out looking at the problem, told her to stand clear, thought the tire was going to explode.

Without the TPMS I cold have suffered the same fate.

Lots of folks don't understand the seriousness of burnt bearings on the RV that you just can't see from the truck until there is lots of smoke and fire.

More folks should consider a good TPMS.
