My cooling unit went out last summer. After it was replaced I did a similar addition as Wingnut60. I mounted an aluminum angle across the inside of the upper vent and added two fans to it that blow outward. I wired the new fans to the same thermostatic control the originals were wired to. The 4 fans have worked fine and cooling has improved immensely.
