Slide cable water intrusion

Gentlemen:
The upper level slides (except for 2 years of DRV manufacturing) have cables at the side, both top and bottom of the slide unit. Originally, where those cables pierced the slide gasket, the hole had rectangular rubber blocks, about 2" x 1" x 1/4" thick, that were glued or vulcanized to the gasket. In my unit, 7 of the 8 blocks, the adhesion, whatever was used, failed. That's a fairly high failure rate. Has anyone come up with a better solution to keep water from entering where the cable enters the gasket ?
